At Novità, our passion for design and architecture drives the work that we do.

Founded by Christine Abbate in 1996, Novità is an integrated marketing and communications agency that caters to the architecture + design industry in North America and beyond. Beginning with Ceramics of Italy and the Italian Trade Commission, Novità, meaning “the news” in Italian, has grown in service offerings and built a robust client list. Novità is headquartered in two important global hubs: New York City and Milan, Italy with satellite offices in the South, MidWest and West Coast. Over the course of two decades, Christine has built a pioneering agency by adhering to the following principles: we are stronger together, everyone has a voice, get personal, do the right thing, trust your people.

President

Prior to founding Novità in 1996, Christine was Director of Marketing & Promotion for the Italian Trade Commission – Tile Center. Fluent in Italian, she has extensive experience in PR, marketing, trade show/event planning, and design competition management. She loves being a strategic partner to her clients across all of their marketing and product development programs. She lives and breathes design and architecture and has led delegations to many of the world’s top design fairs. A creative connector and consummate networker, Chris has developed Novità into one of the leading PR and marketing agencies serving the design industry. She is currently on the Board of Trustees for DIFFA, the Steering Committee for NYCxDesign, the board committees for Marketing, PR and Conferences for Coverings and the PR Advisory Committee for Plus Pool. She is a member of IFDA and an advisor to IDLNY. Outside the office, she is often shopping flea markets, searching for porcinis in the Dolomites, and making berry pie.

Prior to founding Novità in 1996, Christine was Director of Marketing & Promotion for the Italian Tile Center, Italian Trade Commission. Passionate about products and events, she has extensive experience in PR, marketing, trade show/event planning, and design competition management.

Danielle McWilliams

Executive Vice President

Danielle is an Executive Vice President at Novità Communications with over twelve years of experience in design public relations. She currently leads on the Hansgrohe / Axor, Humanscale, Royal Botania, and Capital One Workplace Solutions accounts. Tradeshows are her thing as she and her team manage the press for the Architectural Digest Design Show, DIFFA’s Dining By Design, NeoCon and NeoCon East. She is also Editorial Director of Design-Calendar.com and the Communications Director of the New York Metro Chapter of ASID.

Danielle is an Executive Vice President at Novità with 14+ years of experience in design public relations. She loves the fast-paced, creative and collaborative environment that comes with working at an agency. She also serves as the PR Chair of the New York Metro Chapter of ASID. A hard-working mom of two young girls, she’s become very good at multitasking.

Kristin is Senior Vice President at Novità with 10 years of experience in design marketing and public relations. She heads the Ceramics of Italy account, serving as the agency’s resident tile expert and trend watcher, as well as clients such as Stickbulb and the Architecture & Design Film Festival. She is also on the creative production team for Brooklyn Designs, the PR committee for NYCxDESIGN and the marketing committee for Coverings.

Joseph is a seasoned public relations, marketing, and branding leader. He previously served as Vice President, Communications & Brand Experience for ASID. In that position, Joseph developed and implemented successful integrated strategic communications plans that advanced the association’s brand identity, broadened awareness of its programs and priorities, and increased visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences. Joseph holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Communications & Media Studies from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Alexandra Zwicky

Vice President

A native New Yorker, Alexandra has been with Novità since 2008. She enjoys working with global luxury brands, and is an excellent writer. She brings a thoughtful, strategic approach to her work across the Architectural Digest Design Show, True Residential, Daun Curry and NeoCon accounts. A graduate of Villanova University, she is an excellent writer with outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills. Alexandra is a detail-oriented creative thinker, taking on every task with a careful, strategic approach. With previous PR experience in Paris and with fashion houses in NYC, she enjoys working with international luxury brands and appreciates design, fashion and travel. She also enjoys watching old movies, sailing, going out to dinner, and running, but not necessarily in that order.

After spending her childhood in South Africa, Rosalind moved to London where she began her career in PR and Marketing. With a love of travel and experiences across a diverse range of creative industries such as fashion and media she moved to NYC, where she brings to Novità over ten years worth of experience in PR and Marketing strategy and implementation.

Lucy Mathias

Account Director

A Virginia native and graduate of the College of William and Mary, Lucy began her career in the arts and entertainment industry. She has a working background in media and public relations, and brings her passion and unique voice to Novità through her writing, project management, and creative approach to strategic thinking. She tackles every endeavor with enthusiasm and energy. When she’s not acting as Novità’s resident grammar guru, Lucy spends her time working her way through the New York Public Library’s fiction offerings and singing with the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus.

Katie Bone

Account Director

With experience working in both the New York and London design communities, Katie brings a breadth of valuable experience to Novità. In London, she received a BA in interior design, a Master of Arts in publishing from the University of the Arts London, and worked with numerous brands at a textile showroom at Chelsea Harbour. Prior to joining Novità, she worked as a Marketing and PR Manager in the wallcoverings industry. Katie has been a regular contributor to Interior Design’s Industry News. She is passionate about design as a tool for social and environmental good and spends her spare time learning new crafts, listening to podcasts, and stockpiling books and records. Her writing skills, cultural perspective, and extensive experience make her a strong component of the Novità team.

Having worked in both the New York and London design communities, Katie brings a unique cultural perspective and extensive national and international experience to the team. With a BA in interior design and a Master of Arts in publishing from the University of Arts London, she has a passion for storytelling and using design as tool for good.

Nicole Haddad

Account Director

Nicole Haddad spent the last 13+ years working as an editor at luxury shelter magazines. She brings her love of interior design, architecture, writing, travel, art, and culture to Novita. She has a double BA from UT Austin and a Masters from Pace.

Katherine Smythe

Associate Account Director

Katherine comes to Novità with experience in non-profit communications. As a global ambassador for Butler University’s Institute for Study Abroad, she gained skills in blogging and event planning. She earned a BA from Colby College in English with relevant coursework in art history and photography. She credits two of her relatives, an artist and interior designer respectively, for her aesthetic sensibility and passion for design. At Novità, Katherine loves the challenge of crafting authentic content and interesting stories for clients. She continually seeks to immerse herself into the design and architecture world while keeping up with the latest PR news and trends. On weekends, you can find her catching up on books, magazines and Instagram.

Since joining Novitá in 2016, Katherine has worked with a range of clients including industry leaders, design-focused non profits and cool creators. With strong writing skills and a perceptive eye for trends, she loves finding creative ways to share stories. She earned a BA in English from Colby College.

Abby Perham

Account Executive

With a background in film, photography, writing and communications, Abby brings a diverse skill set and a love of creativity to the Novità team. During her time as an undergrad at Lafayette College, Abby majored in Film & Media studies and worked as a marketing intern and writing associate. While abroad in the Czech Republic, she realized her passion for design PR in the midst of her studies in communications and a social media internship. The collaborative work environment, design focus, and dedication to inventive and engaged PR drew her to Novità, where she most enjoys telling clients’ stories in authentic ways. Outside of work, Abby spends her time trying new recipes, reading, and scoping out adoptable dogs in her area.

A true art and design lover, Emma joined the team having spent the last two and a half years at Interior Design Magazine, as a Junior Market Editor and Assistant to Editor in Chief, Cindy Allen. Graduating from Colby College in 2016, Emma studied English, Art History and Italian, and has lived abroad in both England and Italy.

Avery joined Novità after completing her MA in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture from the Bard Graduate Center in New York. Avery received her BA in Art History from Barnard College at Columbia University and spent her undergrad summers interning for a host of A+D outlets in Manhattan; she has also worked on projects for The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Morgan Library, and Waddesdon Manor, a National Trust Property in the UK.

As an Influencer he has a deep understanding of the social media playing field, and has experience consulting with brands on their social media strategies including assisting in the management of audience engagement, promotion, and Influencer placement. He brings with him a unique creative outlook and four + years of social media know-how.
